Oh my! Its been awhile since I've been able to blog. How my little paws missed the sound of the keyboard going click, click, click...
Well...we have been super busy at SRL. Our August was an amazing month! We rescued 38 dogs and found furever homes for 19 of my pals!
What I really wanted to talk to you about was Petfinder's Adopt-A-Less-Adoptable Pet week. Did you know that black cats and dogs are euthanized more than any other animal in the United States? I don't understand that at all! Sometimes I wish I had that dark, glossy, shiny coat. Sigh...
Adopting pets that are "Less Adoptable" can be quite rewarding! These pets include older pets, dark colored pets, pets with medical issues, deaf or blind pets, or pets that are just different. When looking around our website or any other rescue's website (Petfinder.com is awesome!!!), don't overlook these animals I have mentioned. When you adopt one of them, they know you have a big heart and are very grateful to you for giving them a home, and they reward you greatly with loyalty and love.
I actually prefer it when Miss Debbie brings older dogs into our house. Puppies are so hyper and noisy! Older dogs like to lounge around and cuddle. They require much less maintenance. Take Miss Mattie for instance! She is 8 years old and hardly bothers a soul, but because she is older, she has been with us for quite some time. And we have some very awesome black dogs up for adoption...but again...my furry black friends seem to be looked over. Syd is so awesome. He is super loving and will make somebody a great new friend!
Well, I've done what I could here. Until next time...remember to always spay and neuter your pets. And don't forget to keep those pesky shots up-to-date, too! We don't want to suffer through some yucky ol' disease that could have been preventable.
