Hi Terri here!
I know I'm not doing very good at keeping my page updated.
I just read this article that I thought was pretty informative. It will give you some insight on how we dogs show our affection.
Is your dog a leaner? It’s a common enough issue. Most serial dog owners are likely to have lived with one at some point.
But it’s not just leaning. It’s also standing on your feet, hugging your legs during a walk, and sleeping with the maximum amount of shared surface area in contact.
Some authorities would have you believe your dog is trying to dominate you with her weight. Others might say you’re being manipulated by a poorly socialized, misbehaving suck-up who knows how to push your buttons. But the truth is something else.
In most cases this is affection-seeking behavior, plain and simple. Dogs love to cuddle. And if the person you want to cuddle with is always sitting and standing, then cuddling takes the form of leaning on her or sitting on her shoes as she taps away at the keyboard.
Add that to the fact that dogs –– pack animals that they are –– are fond of close contact as a safety measure, and you’ve got a great rationale for your dog’s lean-on-a-leg approach to life.
I hope this gives you some additional insight into how much we four legged furry family members love you two legged ones!
Oh my! Its been awhile since I've been able to blog. How my little paws missed the sound of the keyboard going click, click, click...
Well...we have been super busy at SRL. Our August was an amazing month! We rescued 38 dogs and found furever homes for 19 of my pals!
What I really wanted to talk to you about was Petfinder's Adopt-A-Less-Adoptable Pet week. Did you know that black cats and dogs are euthanized more than any other animal in the United States? I don't understand that at all! Sometimes I wish I had that dark, glossy, shiny coat. Sigh...
Adopting pets that are "Less Adoptable" can be quite rewarding! These pets include older pets, dark colored pets, pets with medical issues, deaf or blind pets, or pets that are just different. When looking around our website or any other rescue's website (Petfinder.com is awesome!!!), don't overlook these animals I have mentioned. When you adopt one of them, they know you have a big heart and are very grateful to you for giving them a home, and they reward you greatly with loyalty and love.
I actually prefer it when Miss Debbie brings older dogs into our house. Puppies are so hyper and noisy! Older dogs like to lounge around and cuddle. They require much less maintenance. Take Miss Mattie for instance! She is 8 years old and hardly bothers a soul, but because she is older, she has been with us for quite some time. And we have some very awesome black dogs up for adoption...but again...my furry black friends seem to be looked over. Syd is so awesome. He is super loving and will make somebody a great new friend!
Well, I've done what I could here. Until next time...remember to always spay and neuter your pets. And don't forget to keep those pesky shots up-to-date, too! We don't want to suffer through some yucky ol' disease that could have been preventable.

Terri here! Isn't this new website exciting. It gives me goosebumps to see how "cutting edge" we are getting. Of course, you know we couldn't be doing this with out the help of Crystal. She is the greatest isn't she!
Ya know, I have to tell you that we have been getting a lot of additional help. We have recently added 3 new foster homes. Wow! does that ever help in saving more of my furry friends. Isn't it great?
I'm going to try to do better at keeping up to date with things on here. Hope you enjoy our chats as much as I do!
Wow! Guess this hot summer has really kept me away! Well, I'm here to tell ya the dogs are still coming in! We have this little puppies right now. Wow are they funny! I can't keep up with them but I try playing with them...got to show them the fun side of things. I hope you all noticed the recall on the home page. Get rid of those bags of Iams and Eukaneuba dry dog food that have dates from 7/1/2010 turh 12/1/2011. It is tainted food and could make your animal very sick. I heard the same plant makes the two companies dry food!
Hi! Could you go out to this link and vote for SRL, Inc shelter in Minneapolis, KS?
This a contest and the shelter with the most votes will win. Now I know we are way behind but we still want to try. Please help us! Thank you!
Also don't forget to check out the merchandise page. And, remember to check back....there is more to come!

Hi! I'm Terri! I am one of the first dog's Ms Debbie rescued. I was lucky enough to get to stay with Ms Debbie. She really does spoil Cassidy and me rotten. Oh, Cassidy is another of mom's rescue animals. She has been around for a lot of years. She is queen of the house. What she says goes. She quiets us down when we get to noisy.
Mom has decided to make me her 'poster dog'. lol! I am good at teaching the new dogs to go outside when we are told to. I am also very good at showing them how to go to the kitchen when we come back in for our reward (that would be 'treats' to you all). We have Mom wrapped around our paws...just the way it should be!
Oh yeah, the puppy's. We have Buddha. You can click on Buddah's page to see pictures of him. He's a pretty cute guy. And smart, that boy is smart!. When we first got Buddha, he wouldn't walk down the steps to take care of business. He would jump out of Mom's hands. It's as if he were being thrown off the porch by someone. I felt so bad for him. But he is doing great with that now. Mom kept working with him and showed him how to go down the steps without tumbling or falling. He will even run out the door and go down by himself now...unless, he is trying to get extra attention. Then he makes Mom show him how to go down again. It is quite comical to see his little manipulations. You go boy! hehehe!
Now for Li'l Boy! He's just a ball of fur. Look at his picture! You'll see what I mean. lol! This little guy loves to snuggle. He's always getting Mom to snuggle with him. I get a little jealous about that but Mom always tells me "I'm her favorite" and "I'm staying with her long after these guys are gone". So I try not to be that way. But, it's hard ya know? That's my Mom and I'm supposed to be getting all those snuggles. Oops! I'm doing it again aren't I? Ok, so honestly, you can help me out with this if you would just come over and take these guys off my hands. Whadya say? Huh? I'll give ya a grand welcome and kisses when ya come!

We just got the news last night that Buddha is going to have a new home! Woot!woot! Well, kinda woot!woot! I will really miss him. I have had a great time playing with him and dragging all of my toys out. Mom has to pick them up all day long...she gets them put up and of course, we do the dog thing, and pull them back out again. You all expect that of us, right? Mom never yells about it! She's a good sport.
I'll keep you posted, ok?
Oh, yeah! Mom has had quite a few calls about the puppies. I think some other people are going to come over and take a look at LB Saturday. Won't that be great if we find a home for him also. We will really have to celebrate!

Boy, a lot has happened! Buddha has been adopted to a wonderful family. They renamed him to Buddy. That fits him better I think. Oh yes, and Buffy got to go home. Her mom is doing much better and Buffy was really missing her.
We still have LB. We are hoping to find a home for him soon. Don't get me wrong. I really like playing with him. Cassidy, is just too old to play with me. But we really need to find him a home before Mom gets too attached to him.
Please call and help us out! :)

Did I tell that LB got a home? We are so excited for him! He's got a wonderful new mom! And, she's been so excited! She had lost her beloved dog so LB has worked out perfectly for her!
We got a new dog Ms Molly! Go check her page out. She is really shy so we have some socializing to do with her. So far she is doing really good about using the training pads. We had to show her how to go up the steps. Didn't think about her not knowing how to go down them. We haven't quite go the going down mastered yet but we will. We also are going to have to get her leash trained. We are taking baby steps.
Oh yeah Buffy came back. But she has gone to her new home. I think she will be very happy!
Well, I had a bit of an accident and am laid up for a while. Mom is keeping me seperated from the other dogs so I'm quite bored. What better time for me to tell you about the house full of dogs we have right now.
The protector of us all is Precious, the German Shepherd. (Go check out his info on his page.) We all love to play together and he is very careful with us. He can a little rough at times but we let him know when that happens and he backs off!
Then we have Boogie, we call her Boo, she is so special and soft. I've never felt a fur that is so soft. She is a Poogle (Poodle/Beagle mix). She is about 8 lbs and won't get much bigger. I'm tellin' ya whoever takes this girl will be getting a special one. I wouldn't have thought it but it's true. Oh, yeah, she hardly ever barks but when she does you know it. I have to laugh because you just don't expect a bark like that to come out of her. lol! It takes all kinds.
Lastly, we just got a new addition. That'd be Woody. He is a Fox Terrier mix that is about 10 months old. He has had all his shots and is neutered. He will be a fun dog for some family. I don't think he will be here long at all. But of course, you know that I am partial to him because he is Terrier.
Ok, mom is saying it is time for my medicine. So until next time you all take a look at the pictures and call us. These pups need a home! :)

Hey I thought I would tell you about this website. It is really cool and everything on it is to benefit the rescued pets. Take a look at it here:
Here is another link to go to. It is a petition to end Dog Fighting. Let's pull together on this and go out here and sign this petition.
